If you don’t yet have health insurance in the state of California or wish to switch to a new insurance provider, know that open enrollment for the health exchange is now in full swing. Here at Sackett & Associates Insurance Services, we know how overwhelming it can feel to have so many options for insurance coverage, which is why we recommend working with an experienced health insurance broker. Additionally, we suggest you familiarize yourself with the finer points of the health insurance open enrollment period.

Time Is of the Essence

In California, you have until January 15, 2019, to
sign up for a health insurance plan. While that may sound as if you have plenty of time, you have to bear in mind the fact that the holidays will be here before you know it, and you may find yourself busy preparing and spending time with family and friends, which could lead to you forgetting to make sure you and your health are covered with a good insurance plan. We recommend that you go ahead and take care of the task as soon as possible, several months ahead of the deadline, so that you aren’t scrambling at the last minute to get coverage.

Employers Need To Pay Attention to the Deadline As Well

If you’re an employer with a smaller company and have a
health reimbursement arrangement, also known as QSEHRA, you need to ensure that you meet the open enrollment deadline as well so that you and your employees know for a fact that all your QSEHRA reimbursements are as tax-free as you plan on them being. Additionally, your employees are sure to appreciate you taking the proper steps to make sure they’re covered; never underestimate how much your team appreciates having quality health coverage.

You’ve Only Got One Window

Individuals in need of health coverage who don’t have a qualifying life event and miss the open enrollment period will have to wait for 2020’s enrollment period until they’re able to sign up. There’s no telling what may happen to you in that space of time, and you’re sure to have better peace of mind knowing that you have proper health insurance.

Let a Professional Broker Help You Find the Right Plan

You could easily choose a new health insurance policy on your own, but you could quickly and easily find yourself feeling indecisive about which plan and type of coverage is best for your health, your budget and your unique needs. An experienced and knowledgeable insurance broker can explain plans to you so that there’s no misunderstanding about what you’re getting or how your plan works. The key to maximizing your health insurance is knowing it inside and out. The best perk of all, you don’t pay anything for help from a health insurance broker.

No matter if there’s currently an open enrollment period for the California health insurance exchange, know that Sackett & Associates Insurance Services is here to help with your individual and employee needs for health, vision, dental and life policy needs.
