Remain Healthy and Safe in Your Home This Winter

Current events may keep you inside more than usual this winter, which means you may go a bit stir-crazy. Sackett & Associates Insurance Services is not only here to provide you with a quality health insurance broker Santa Rosa, we also want to help you look and feel your best. Here are several tips to stay healthy physically and mentally while at home during the colder months of the year.

Stay/Keep Active

Just because local gyms don't operate as they once did doesn't mean you can't get in a solid workout at home. One great thing about exercise is you have several options for getting your heart rate up, shedding pounds and building muscle. You can order equipment, and you can look up workout videos online if you need further guidance, motivation and instruction. Examples of great workout options include weight training, yoga, Pilates, kickboxing, high-intensity interval training and boxing. Besides the physical advantages, staying active helps you manage stress, anxiety, depression and several other mental health conditions.

Manage Your Mental Health

Speaking of mental health, make time for mental and emotional check-ins with yourself. Living in unprecedented times can take quite a toll on your mental health. Stress and anxiety can creep up on you and throw you for a loop before you realize it. Rather than wait to resolve depression, anxiety and the like, get ahead of struggles however and whenever you can. Besides exercising, you can also meditate, keep a journal, talk with a therapist, read a book, maintain a spirit of gratitude and stay connected with friends and family. Do not forget to make time for self-care and activities that bring a smile to your face.

Eat Healthily

Pay close attention to the food you eat and what you drink while navigating the world from the safety of your home. Aim for foods rich in nutrients and vitamins that your body needs. This doesn't mean you can't indulge in occasional sweets or a cheat meal, just that you're bound to feel better sticking to healthy foods. Also, healthy, clean eating supports a strong immune system, which we all need right now.

To make eating healthy easy, eat on a schedule, so there's less chance of you grabbing a quick meal packed with unhealthy calories and fat. While grocery shopping, look for vegetables and fruits that are in season. Stock your pantry and fridge with healthy snacks that can tide you over between meals. Trying new recipes can make cooking exciting while introducing you to new cuisines, cooking styles, ingredients and nutrients.

Develop Healthy Habits

Depending on how your work and social schedules look now, your daily schedule may look a lot different from what it used to. Now is a great time to create new, healthy routines and habits for yourself. Examine your old schedule and habits to see how you can tweak them to improve your mindset, lifestyle, home, mental health and relationship with yourself.

It's more essential than ever to have quality health insurance, even if you spend more time inside.
