The Patient Protection and Affordable Care act includes a provision requiring employers to inform their employees of the upcoming federal health insurance exchange, now known as the marketplace. This notification has to be given to employees by October 1, 2013. All employers who fall under the Fair Labor Standards Act have a requirement to provide this notice to each and every employee about the existence of the federal Marketplace. The notice has to be provided even if the employer already offers employees health insurance.
